A jackfruit, whether ripe or unripe, is extremely versatile. Besides its incredible taste and beautiful texture, it is also naturally nutritious. So why not use jackfruit to make noolappam? This delicious breakfast dish could be enjoyed even without any curries on the side.
Ingredients
1 cup rice powder
½ cup ripe jackfruit pulp
1 tsp coconut oil
½ cup grated coconut
½ cup water
Salt as required
Preparation
Grind the jackfruit into smooth pulp without adding water
Boil half a cup of water with salt and 1 tsp coconut oil
Add the rice powder to the hot water
Mix well
Meanwhile, turn off the flame
Mix half a cup of jackfruit pulp into the rice mix
Mix well using your hands
Grease an idiyappam mould with some oil
Fill this with the dough
Add some grated coconut onto the idly vessel
Press the dough into the idly vessel
Steam the noolappam in an idly steamer for at least six minutes
Delicious jackfruit noolappam is ready to serve!
