Prawns pola: Try this delectable dish as your next iftar treat

The holy month is almost coming to an end and many households are putting together their best treats for the last leg of iftar season. If you love prawns aka shrimp and are thrilled with its nutritional benefits, including omega 3 fatty acids, protiens, anti oxidants and more, here's a dish you can try preparing for your iftar party. This flavourful, spicy prawns pola that can be the centre piece of your spread. Here's the recipe.

Ingredients
100 gms prawns
1 onion
1 tbsp ginger – garlic
1 green chili
Curry leaves
2 tsp chili powder
¾ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp pepper powder
½ tsp garam masala
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 eggs
2 tbsp oil
Carrot (sliced)
Salt as required

Preparation
Marinate the prawns with salt, turmeric powder and chili powder
Fry the marinated prawns in hot oil; keep them aside to be used later
Into the same oil add onion, ginger – garlic and green chilies
Sauté well
Now add chili powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala and salt
Sauté until the raw smell of the powders is gone
Add the fried prawns and mix well
Meanwhile, take egg, milk, all purpose flour, pepper powder and salt in a mixer jar
Blend well into smooth batter
Grease a sauce with some oil before pouring half of this batter
Close the lid and cook for five minutes
Now add the prawns masala mix
Pour the rest of the batter too
Add a few fried prawns, carrot and chopped curry leaves as the top layer
Cook for at least 15 minutes with the lid on
Flip the pola into another pan and cook the top layer for five more minutes
Cut the tasty prawns pola into slices and serve hot.
