Soya chunks curry: A protein-rich alternative to fish and chicken dishes

Soya products such as milk and chunks have always been popular among health-conscious people. The main attraction of soya products is that they are a high source of proteins for vegetarians. A variety of tasty dishes could be prepared with soya chunks, including a special curry which is a good combination with ‘chapatis’, ‘pooris’ and fried rice.

Ingredients
100 grams of soya chunks, washed and soaked in warm water
1 large tomato
1 large onion
2 teaspoons coconut oil
1.5 teaspoon grated ginger
1.5 teaspoon garlic
1 green chilly
2 teaspoons coriander powder
2 teaspoons garam masala
¾ teaspoons yellow turmeric powder
1 teaspoon chilly powder
Salt to taste

Preparation
Heat a non-stick vessel and pour two teaspoons of coconut oil in it
Sauté ginger, garlic and green chilly in the oil; when these items lose their rawness, add the sliced onion
Sauté the onion also
Add the finely chopped tomato to this mixture and sauté again
Add two teaspoons each of coriander powder and garam masala
Stir thoroughly
Switch off the flame and when the mixture cools down, grind it in a mixie (blender) without adding water
In the same vessel, heat one glass of water and add the soaked soya chunks
Cook the soya chunks for five minutes after adding yellow turmeric powder and chilli powder
Add the ground onion-tomato mix and cook for another two to three minutes after covering the vessel with a lid
The protein-rich soya chunks curry is ready to be served
