Kottayam: The district anti-narcotics squad and the Thrikkodithanam police on Monday arrested two youths with the banned MDMA drugs. The arrested are Akhil John, 26, and Nissal Antony, 19, of Changanacherry. 

The squad and the Thrikkodithanam police conducted a search at the Kottamury area of Thrikkodithanam based on confidential information District Police Chief A Shahul Hameed received about a drug sale.

The team seized 9.70 grams of MDMA. Thrikkodithanam Station house officer Arun MJ, Sub Inspectors Arun Kumar PS, Gireesh Kumar, Varghese Kuruvila, Civil police officers Sreekumar and Arun S, and members of the district anti-narcotics squad were part of the team. Nissal Antony is on the Changanacherry police's anti-social list, cops said. 

The police have registered a case under sections 22(b)  and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, against the accused.
