The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rain across Kerala, triggered by a well-marked low-pressure area over southeast Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. The low-pressure area, which developed over the north Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh, West Bengal, and north Odisha, is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours.

Strong winds and rainfall measuring between 7 cm and 20 cm are likely to lash isolated places across the state in the coming days. Furthermore, the IMD issued yellow alerts for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

Authorities have urged residents in alert districts to remain cautious, especially in hilly and low-lying areas prone to landslides and waterlogging. Fishermen have also been advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough weather conditions.
