Malappuram: The Thunchan Smaraka Trust will host a festival at Thunchan Parambu this year in celebration of Ramayana month, showcasing a series of lectures and cultural programmes inspired by the epic.

Although Ramayana month is observed at Thunchan Parambu every year, this is the first time a full-fledged festival is being organised. The event will commence on July 27 with a quiz competition.

On July 28, writer C Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the lecture series at 10 am, delivering a talk titled 'Ramayanathinte Rashtriyam' (The politics in Ramayana). At 2 pm, Dr E Sreedharan will speak on 'Ramayanathile Sita' (Sita in Ramayana), followed by a Chakyar Koothu performance by Kalamandalam Sangeeth Chakyar.

The events on July 29 will begin at 10 am with a lecture by Kendra Sahitya Akademi award winner K S Venkitachalam on 'Valmiki Ramayanan - Vyakyanasaram' (Valmiki Ramayana – A Summary of Interpretations). At 2.30 pm, Mullakkara Ratnakaran will speak on 'Ramayanathile Hanuman' (Hanuman in Ramayana). In the evening, at 6 pm, Dr Sreedevi Angadipuram will present a musical recital titled 'Ramasankeerthanasudha'.

On July 30, K C Narayanan will speak in the morning on 'Ramayanathile Manushyabanthangal' (Human Relations in Ramayana), followed by Alankode Leelakrishnan in the afternoon, who will deliver a lecture on 'Ramayanathinte Samagra Soundharyam' (The Comprehensive Beauty of Ramayana).
