Feroke: With Sister Sisi Muringamyalil being elected as the Global Superior General of the Venerini Sisters, it marks a proud moment for Cheruvannoor too.

Sister Sisi, who has been serving as the Provincial Superior of the Indian Province, arrived in Cheruvannoor four years ago and soon became a prominent figure in the sphere of social service. Her compassion and commitment to the community were evident in her close collaboration with civil society initiatives.

Her humanitarian efforts during the floods, particularly in delivering food and masks to relief camps, were widely appreciated by the local community. She has also held important positions within the Church's administrative structure, including Councillor and Vicar General.

After returning from Italy in 2020, she was elected as the Provincial Superior of the Indian Province in 2022. It was while serving in this role that she was chosen to lead the congregation globally. The Venerini Sisters have a significant presence across the world.

Born as the sixth of ten children to the Muringamyalil Thomas–Eliyamma couple in Pilathara, Kannur, Sister Sisi received the holy habit in 1992. She has served in several houses of the congregation and was elected as General Councillor of the Church during its 12th General Chapter in 2007, while she was the Novice Mistress of the Indian Province.

Meanwhile, in the elections to the General Council, Sister Brijith Vadakkepurackal was also elected as a General Councillor. A native of Thalapuzha near Mananthavady, Sister Brijith was the first indigenous Provincial Superior of the Indian Province. Her new appointment comes even as she continues to serve as the administrator of the Venerini Girls Higher Secondary School at Karinkallayi near Farook College.
