Thiruvananthapuram: The State Groundwater Department has revised the fee for issuing and renewing No Objection Certificates (NoC) for groundwater abstraction, doubling the existing rates. The decision was based on recommendations made during the 35th meeting of the State Groundwater Authority. 

Earlier, ₹5,000 was fixed as the fee for issuing an NoC for new industrial and infrastructure projects, and ₹2,500 for its annual renewal, based on a 2019 government order. These have now been increased to ₹10,000 and ₹5,000, respectively. For limited groundwater extraction projects (below 2,500 LPD), the fee was previously fixed at ₹2,000 and the annual renewal fee at ₹1,000, as per a 2020 order. These have now been revised to ₹4,000 and ₹2,000, respectively.
