Chalakudy: A team of police personnel from the Chalakudy Police Station turned saviours for a car driver who suffered severe chest pain while driving. The episode unfolded the other day at Pappli Junction near Panampilly College on the National Highway in Potta.

The police team, comprising Sub Inspector K S Unnikrishnan, Assistant Sub Inspector Sajeef Khan and Civil Police Officers s K Amal and P R Jijo, was managing traffic on the highway when a woman rushed towards them seeking urgent help. She told the officers that her husband had developed intense chest pain while driving and was unable to continue.

The driver, identified as Sherif, 40, a native of Pattambi, had been returning home from Nedumbassery Airport with his wife, Fahida, when he suddenly felt unwell.

Without wasting a moment, the officers crossed to the other side of the highway and helped shift the ailing man. SI Unnikrishnan took Sherif to Dhanya Hospital in Potta by the same car, where doctors administered emergency care. Thanks to the police’s timely intervention, the patient soon recovered. Hospital authorities later confirmed that his condition was stable.
