Idukki: An 82-year-old woman accused of killing her 64-year-old relative in an acid attack died while undergoing treatment on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Thankamma, a native of Kattachira, Ettumanoor in Kottayam, was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

Police said Thankamma allegedly poured acid on her nephew, Sukumaran of Kuzhitholu, Eettappuram, following a financial dispute on October 25, resulting in his death. She too suffered severe burn injuries during the incident.

After initial treatment at Medical College Hospital in Idukki, she was shifted to Medical College Hospital in Kottayam on Friday after complaining of chest pain, where she died of a heart attack.

Police said the two had been involved in long-standing financial disputes, and Thankamma had earlier filed a complaint against Sukumaran. Her arrest had been recorded while she was still undergoing treatment.
