Kollam: The Coastal police here on Saturday registered a case against a policeman for allegedly molesting his woman colleague inside the police station. The accused is Navas, a senior Civil Police Officer at Chavara police station here.

According to police, Navas was working on deputation at the Nendakara Coastal Police Station. The woman officer was on station duty on the early morning of November 6.

As per the complaint, Navas, who was standing in front of the men’s restroom, allegedly molested her and made abusive comments when she was walking towards the restroom.

The woman officer immediately left the spot and reported the incident to her senior officer. Following this, an internal inquiry was conducted and a report was later forwarded to the Kollam City Police Commissioner. Navas was booked as directed by the City Police Commissioner.

He is facing charges for outraging the modesty of a woman, said police.

The police said that the department has also ordered an internal inquiry against Navas and recommended disciplinary action against him.
