The Thiruvananthapuram District Collector has declared a local holiday on November 22, the opening day of the annual Uroos festival at the Beemapally Dargah Shareef. All state government offices and educational institutions within the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation limits will remain closed.

However, as directed by the Deputy Collector (Elections), government offices and local self-government bodies engaged in duties related to the local body elections will function as usual. The holiday will also not apply to any previously scheduled public examinations.

The Beemapally Uroos will be held from November 22 to December 2.
November 22 is also the day scheduled for nomination scrutiny for the local body polls. Polling will take place in two phases on December 9 and 11, with Thiruvananthapuram voting on December 9.
