The results of the Kerala local body elections showed the United Democratic Front (UDF) consolidating its position across municipalities, leading in 54 of the 86 civic bodies, while the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) is ahead in 28. The BJP-led NDA is leading in two municipalities, Palakkad and Tripunithura.

The trends point to a significant shift in urban and semi-urban local bodies, with the UDF making gains in several districts, even as the LDF has managed to retain control in a few traditional strongholds.

Thiruvananthapuram
In Thiruvananthapuram district, the LDF maintained its dominance, replicating its 2020 performance by winning all four municipalities of Attingal, Nedumangad, Neyyattinkara and Varkala.

Kollam
In Kollam, the LDF retained three of its traditional strongholds by winning Kottarakkara, Paravoor and Punalur. However, the UDF wrested Karunagappally from the Left.

Idukki
In Idukki district, the UDF won both Kattappana and Thodupuzha municipalities. In Thodupuzha, the NDA emerged as the runner-up, winning nine wards compared to the LDF’s three.

Palakkad
Palakkad district saw a surprise swing towards the UDF, which won four of the seven municipalities: Cheruplassery, Chittur–Thathamangalam, Mannarkkad and Pattambi, despite the controversy surrounding Rahul Mamkootathil. The BJP retained Palakkad municipality, while the LDF won Shornur and Ottapalam.

Malappuram
In Malappuram district, the UDF-backed IUML dominated the municipal results, winning 11 of the 12 municipalities. The LDF retained only Ponnani.

Kasaragod
In Kasaragod district, the UDF won Kasaragod municipality, with the NDA emerging as the runner-up. The LDF secured only one ward there. While the LDF won Nileshwaram, Kanhangad ended in a tie between the LDF and UDF with 20 seats each.
