The study table has as much importance as the conditions of the room where it is placed in helping students concentrate on their lessons. A typical study table has either a square or rectangular top. Most people choose a calm and quiet area to study. However, not much attention is given to the position of the study table.

According to experts in the ancient Indian architectural system of Vastu, the study table should face east or north for the student to obtain maximum concentration. Another matter to note is to leave a gap between the study table and the wall.

Vastu also specifies the directions where books should be kept. The ideal spot is north-east, say experts in the discipline. Yet another aspect is the area where the study table occupies in the room. Avoid keeping the study table in the centre of the room, advise the experts.
