In an industry that places flawless skin and fair complexion above talent and passion, this young Malayalam actress values her birthmark on her face as a mark of her identity. Rajisha Vijayan who became the heart-throb of Mollywood through her debut movie 'Anuraga Karikkin Vellam' is still known by her first character Elizabeth aka 'Eli.'
Rajisha Vijayan has secured a special place in the industry through her distinctive character selection and her hard work to make their portrayal on screen accurate. Rajisha, who mastered cycling for PR Arun's debut film 'Finals' for the role of an athlete, will be seen as a timid college student in her next, 'Stand-up' directed by Vidhu Vincent.
The actor who began her career as a television anchor, recently revealed that the birthmark on her left cheek bone boosts her confidence levels whenever it is displayed well. “I know people who frantically cover up their acnes, birthmarks and tans with layers of make-up before appearing under the spot-light, before a camera or in public. I, on the other hand, choose to display my birthmark as it has become part of my identity,” she says.
Rajisha says that she takes her directors' permission to let the birthmark remain vivid on her face unless the character requires a cover up. “It is part and parcel of my personality. It asserts my identity. It lifts my energy levels as well,” she says.
Adding to it, Rajisha says that as a youngster, she used to get depressed over her short physique. “I was a movie aspirant right from my childhood. I used to think I would never be able to become an actor because I wasn't tall enough. Many people have said it on my face. Fortunately, I am part of an industry which doesn't prioritize height or built over talent,” She says.
Rajisha says that if ever she gets a chance to talk to her younger self, she would say “You look good enough. You are tall enough. You are working in the right direction. Relax and keep going.” The young actor asserts that her birthmark is her talent and not just dark patch on her face.
Rajisha's latest movie 'Stand up' will hit the theatres later this month. The actor has got a number of other projects lined up.
