Ansiba Hassan found a permanent place in the hearts of the Malayali audience with her incredible performance in the Mohanlal-starrer Drishyam. The movie, a blockbuster, had its remakes in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, and became a turning point in the young actress’ career as well.

Ansiba and her family are thrilled about their new home built at Nadakkavu, Kozhikode. “Though I did around 15 movies after Drishyam, people still recognize me as Anju from that movie. My life has changed a lot in the last 5 years. I completed my studies and even directed a short film,” says Ansiba.

Ansiba was born at Kondotty in Malappuram where her father’s ancestral home is. Her mother Rasiya hails from Kozhikode. The family shifted to Kozhikode when Ansiba was just two years old. Her father Nizar, who is a photographer, owns a studio here.

The actress is the second of six siblings. “We lived rented houses for so long. Though I bought a villa and a flat after making my entry into movies, I had always dreamed to build a house according to our wishes. The house was built at the 5 cents plot that we bought at Nadakkavu. The 2550 sq ft house is designed in the contemporary style. We have named our house ‘Mannat’,” explains Ansiba.

As one enters the house, the eyes are immediately drawn to a wall painted in yellow texture. The formal living space is on the left and a wall has been highlighted here using red-texture paint. There is a TV unit-cum-shelf where many mementos and trophies won by the actress are arranged neatly.

The unique design of the stairway is definitely the highlighting feature of the interiors. Hanging lamps in warm tone add to the charm of the interiors. The steps are built by covering concrete with wooden panels. Profile lights enhance the dramatic impact of the beautiful stairway. A small pebble court beneath the stairway completes overall look of the area. Two LED strips are hung here which would light up the entire hall at night.

The dining area is on the opposite side of the stairway and is done in double height. Six people can be comfortably seated at the dining table made in glass and wood. Beautiful paintings adorn the walls around the dining area.

The kitchen is simple and modern with lots of storage space. A small work area close to the boundary wall completes the kitchen.

The house has two balconies. The entrance to the first balcony is adjacent to the upper landing of the stair way. A pergola in GI frames is an elegant addition on the balcony. There is a small hall upstairs and a wall is highlighted using paint of rose texture.

There are 5 bedrooms in the house, 2 on the ground floor and 3 on the upper storey. In every bedroom, a highlighted wall is the eye catching feature. Attached bathrooms and in–built wardrobes complete the bedrooms. Ansiba’s room is on the first floor and the violet texture paint on one of the walls is continued on the ceiling as well. There is a balcony here from where the actress can enjoy the lush greenery outside.

“I often stay in Kochi owing to my shooting schedules. Now, I have one more reason to get back to Kozhikode whenever I get some free time. There, my beautiful abode awaits me,” says Ansiba with a smile.
