Akhil, a native of Thriuvananthapuram, is incredibly proud to show around his brand new house, which overcomes space constraints with its elegant design and meticulous utilization of spaces. His 3 cents uneven plot, in Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram, often became a giant puddle during the harsh monsoons. Besides, Akhil was going through financial crises as well. So he wasn't sure about building his dream abode on this plot. However, overcoming all these challenges, architect Arun designed the perfect modern house on this small plot.

There are living and dining spaces, kitchen and 3 bedrooms in this house which has an area of 1480 sq ft. The exteriors designed in the simple box style add to the overall look of the house. The car porch is built in the lower part of the plot and the main areas of the house are in the higher part.

The interiors designed in the open style, without building too many walls between the spaces, makes the house look vast and spacious. The walls are highlighted using beautiful wall papers and paintings. Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor.

The stairway is arranged in such a way that it effortlessly connects the spaces at different heights. The beautiful wooden carving of Lord Buddha in meditation, done on the hand railing, is a stunning feature.

The pantry counter separates the dining area and the kitchen. The family is extremely happy that a quaint and charming courtyard could be arranged adjacent to the dining area. The indoor plants add a shade of green hue which contrasts perfectly with the color theme of the interiors. The natural light that come in through the skylight illuminates the entire house.

Wardrobes in plywood-veneer finish are arranged in all the bedrooms. The kitchen cupboards are done in multiwood with PU paint finish. The construction of this elegant house, including the structure and furnishing, was completed within a reasonable budget of Rs 30 lakhs.
