Those who dwell in this house had actually wanted an elegant abode where a family of four could live comfortably. The contemporary style house stands regally in a 40 cents plot at Kuttikattoor, Kozhikode, Kerala. The unique roof, at varying levels, is the highlight of the exteriors. The groove, highlighted with bright yellow colour, stands out as an amazing designer feature.
The aesthetically done landscaping enhances the overall ambience of the house, besides adding pleasant atmosphere. There are in – built benches in the beautiful garden where you can sit and unwind. The elegance of kota stone and lush green grass add a rustic yet mesmerizing charm to the exteriors.
While the upper storey of the house was being constructed, the family noticed that a bird had built its nest on an upper deck and had even laid eggs in it. So the construction work was halted for a while. The work of the floor resumed only after the eggs were hatched and the birds flew away. The owner says that they didn’t have the heart to destroy the bird’s nest. The landscaping is done by retaining the trees that stood on the plot.
There are living and dining areas, kitchen, four bedrooms and courtyard in this beautiful house which has an area 2950 sq ft. Each wall in the interiors is highlighted using striking hues.
The yellow-painted groove area that we see in the exteriors is actually the stair area. The vertical skylights here welcome lots of sunshine into the house. A crockery shelf and a wash area are arranged beneath the stairway utilizing the spaces. The handrails of the stairway are done in wood with CNC designs. The dining table is arranged adjacent to this area.
The courtyard is the most striking feature in the hall. A wooden bridge across the courtyard is scintillating. Artificial grass is paved in the courtyard as it is easy to maintain. The spaces are beautifully decorated with indoor plants which add a hint of pleasant greenery as well.
The four bedrooms are designed in unique themes. The colours on the walls and the stylish designs on the paneling on the headboards make the rooms stand out.
The kitchen cupboards are done in plywood and laminate finish. Besides the modular kitchen, one with a traditional hearth too has also been built.
The family is thrilled that their perfect dwelling is a haven where nature is in sync with modernity and comfort.
