Sajith, an expatriate, is extremely proud and elated to talk about his brand new house built at his hometown in Thonadayad, Kozhikode, Kerala. The family wanted their house to feature a unique style which instantly grabs the attention. Meanwhile, Sajith, who has been living in Canada for quite some time now, had fallen in love with the colonial architecture which is commonly seen there. The family stays in the house in Kerala only when they are here on vacation. So the interiors are uniquely designed to make maintenance amazingly easier.
The structure is built by leaving enough space in the front yard for the kids to run about and play. The sloped roof and the walls lined with huge glass windows evoke the charm of the colonial architectural style. The use of timber is limited, instead doors and windows made in UPVC are used.

This house in 3000 sq ft has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with an adjacent work area and five bedrooms.

The interiors are designed in the open style. The roof in double height makes the interior spaces look vast and incredibly spacious. The huge glass windows ensure that there is abundant supply of natural light and fresh air. The bridge that connects two rooms is an eye-catching feature here. Polished and matte-finished kota stones are paved on the floor in alternate design.

The courtyard is the most stunning feature in the interiors. The beautiful view of this courtyard could be enjoyed from all the common areas in the house. It is surrounded with long glass windows which ensure amazing air circulation inside the house.

The dining area too has glass windows on three sides through which the mesmerizing view of the lush greenery and beautiful garden outside could be enjoyed. Elegant hanging lights add to the overall look of the dining space.

There is a bedroom in the ground floor while the upper storey has three bedrooms. All the bedrooms are bath-attached with wardrobes and separate dressing areas. The open kitchen grants an amazing view of the beautiful garden in the courtyard. Nano white is paved on the counter top. A pantry counter completes the beautiful kitchen.

Sajith says that the family, now, eagerly waits for the holidays, to come home to their dream abode.
