Toni Philip, a successful businessman, is thrilled to show around his brand new luxury house at Thottilpalam in Kozhikode district, Kerala. This house stands where the family’s ancestral house had stood earlier. However, time had begun taking a toll on the old structure and the family decided to demolish it and build a modern house here.

The family wanted abundant supply of natural light and fresh air inside their house. Besides, they insisted that the design of the house should allow incredible views of the distant mountains and the lush greenery. The architects deserve credit for designing such a beautiful house, catering to the family’s demands and likes. The plot lies in multiple levels. However, the natural structure of the plot has been retained and the house is built to suit this structure.

The uneven level of the plot is quite evident even at a glance. The car porch is at the basement floor and the main entrance is at the ground floor. The sloped roof paved with shingles suit the unique climate of Kerala. The exposed brick cladding on the exterior walls add to the enchanting look of the house.

This amazing house, designed in 4500 sq ft area, has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, courtyard, dining space, pantry and working kitchens, four bedrooms, upper living area, home theatre and a swimming pool as well.

The interiors too are designed in multiple levels. Despite having unique identity of their own, these spaces are interconnected. One could enter the house from the car porch through the small foyer. The formal living area is arranged by ensuring enough privacy. Vitrified tiles in rustic finish are paved on the floor. The custom made furniture perfectly suits the unique theme and design of the house.

The two courtyards are the highlights of the interiors. The main courtyard also acts as a partition that separates the formal living area and the prayer space. This area is decorated with shiny round pebbles and indoor plants which add a hint of greenery. The skylight on the ceiling brings lots of natural light into the house. There is another dry courtyard just beside the stairway as well.

The family living area is designed in double height. This allows easier communication with the upper floor. The beautiful sights of the mesmerizing nature could be enjoyed by opening the foldable door in the living area. There is a balcony here which leads to the swimming pool and the back yard below.

The skylight on the double heighted ceiling above the stairway welcomes lots of sunshine into the house. Besides, the vertical skylights too play a vital role in illuminating the interiors with natural light. This area, meanwhile, is highlighted using attractive shades of hues. A wall here is decorated using marble claddings with wooden elements.

The pantry kitchen is just beside the dining space. The adjacent working kitchen completes this area. The windows in the bedrooms open to the spectacular sights of the nature outside. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes for storage and separate dressing spaces as well.

The swimming pool in the backyard is a unique feature that instantly draws attention. The area where the house stands is naturally blessed with live springs and clean water sources. Initially, a pond was built to store the extra water. Later, it was turned into a multipurpose swimming pool. The unique design of the pool is what makes it blend amazingly with the surrounding area. The floor of the pool is paved with green coloured natural stones which make it look like a traditional pond. The steps designed with a rustic finish add to the scintillating look of the pool area.

The house shines against the twilight sky when the highlighter lights are switched on at night. This luxury mansion that has all the modern facilities is in perfect sync with the nature which makes it an incredible eco friendly dwelling.
