Sujith and Jesna’s beautiful house is at Cherai, a picturesque coastal village near the Vypin Island in the Ernakulam district, Kerala. Architect Surya Prashant has designed this brand new house catering to the likes and interests of the family members. The exteriors don the charming elegance of the tropical style with sloped roof. The double-heighted wall in the exteriors is highlighted with wooden panelling.

Designed in 3770 sq ft area, this beautiful house has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining area, two courtyards, kitchen with an adjacent work area and four bedrooms. Interestingly, the car porch is built as part of the main structure, closer to the entrance. There is a skylight here which illuminates the car porch and the sit-out as well in natural light during the day time.

The spacious verandah allows the family members to communicate easily with their neighbours. In-built shoe rack cum sitting space has been arranged here.

A spectacular mural painting adorns the wall in the foyer which leads to the formal living area. A wall here is decorated with attractive wall paper.

The interiors are designed in the open style which makes the spaces look vaster and ensure excellent cross ventilation as well. The formal living area, courtyard and the dining space are part of the open hall. The formal living area is in double height. Vitrified tiles in lighter shades of hues are paved on the floor in the common areas. Meanwhile, wooden flooring is used in the bedrooms.

The courtyard is the highlight of the interiors. The pooja space too has been arranged here. Most spaces are arranged in a way which allows amazing view of the courtyard from everywhere. The exposed brick cladding on the wall in the courtyard is quite eye catching. Moreover, the skylight on the ceiling brings lots of pleasant sun shine into the interiors.

There is a mini-courtyard as well which is just beside the dining area. A small mango tree that had already stood in the plot is retained here. One could enjoy the meals catching a glimpse of the beautiful nature. The dining table features the bench concept which is chic and modern. The amazing hanging lights complete the elegant look of the dining space.

The ceiling above the stairway is designed in double height. The skylight here welcomes sun light into the interiors. The hand railings of the stairway, meanwhile, are done in stainless steel.

The beautiful kitchen dons a rustic finish. The full length cupboards ensure amazing storage capacity. The counter top, meanwhile, is paved with nano white. A work area too has been arranged as part of the kitchen.

All the bedrooms are bath attached with built-in wardrobes for storage and separate dressing spaces. A wall each in the bedrooms is highlighted using attractive wall papers.

The gate that features amazing jali cut works is quite interesting and perfectly suits the exteriors. The cladding works are featured on the boundary wall as well. Natural stones and grass are paved in alternate layers in the front yard.

The lush greenery around the house plays a pivotal role in making the interiors of this house incredibly cool and pleasant. The family is indeed happy and proud that they had decided to retain most of the trees and plants that already stood in the plot.
