The rustic charm of the exposed bricks and the hard rocks provide an exquisite view of the exterior walls.

Jacob George’s brand new house at Anchal in Kollam district in Kerala is a beautiful luxury yet cost effective house built on a reasonable budget of Rs 40 lakh. The impeccable facilities and majestic features are the highlight of this house.

The structure is built on a 10 cents plot by leaving enough space for the front yard and a charming garden. The rustic charm of the exposed bricks and the hard rocks provide an exquisite view of the exterior walls.

This actually acts as a shield against the hotter sun rays, thereby keeping the interiors cool and comfortable. Handrails made of MS tube surround the upper part of the structure adding a chic look to the elevation. Meanwhile, the car porch is built separately from the main structure by paving shingles on metal frame work.

Designed in 2600 sq ft area, this spectacular abode has a car porch, living and dining spaces, patio, courtyard, four bedrooms, and kitchen with an adjacent work area, upper living area and a balcony.

The formal living area is furnished lavishly, which enhances the splendid look of it. A cut work in the tree design on one wall is the most attractive feature here. The concealed lighting highlights the unique features of this designer wall that has been turned into a trophy shelf. Meanwhile, the wall opposite it features a bright green hue that is soothing to the eyes. The gypsum false ceiling and the stylish light fittings add to the glamorous look of the formal living area. Vitrified tiles and granite are paved on the floor in this house.

A movable semi-partition is what separates the living and the dining areas. This area could easily be turned into a spacious hall if the family is hosting parties or gatherings.

The courtyard is closer to the living area. This space, designed in double height, has shiny pebbles paved on the floor and is decorated with indoor plants that add a hint of greenery. The skylight here brings lots of natural sunshine into the interiors.

There is a crockery shelf closer to the dining table. The upper living area too is furnished with comfortable sitting arrangements. This space too is illuminated by the natural sunlight that comes in through the skylight.

Storage has been given primary importance while designing the bedrooms in this house. Besides the in-built wardrobes, the cots have concealed storage facilities as well. The bedrooms are bath-attached and have huge windows to summon natural light and cool breeze.

The kitchen cabinets are done in multi wood with PU paint finish. The kitchen is furnished in the beautiful green and white colour theme which is seen throughout the house. Meanwhile, the counter top has been paved with granite.

The most amazing fact is that the construction of this fabulous abode, including the structure and the furnishing, was completed on a moderate budget of Rs 40 lakh.

Among several factors that kept the expenses reasonable for this unique structure, adopting a simple yet elegant features on the exteriors played a pivotal role. The amount for plastering and painting were saved as exposed bricks are used on the elevation. Medium priced timber is used for furnishing; old wood too are reused to lower the expenses. False ceiling is installed only in the living and the dining areas. Rest of the areas in the house has been designed minimally while arranging all the modern facilities.
