The demand for houses built with locally sourced construction materials that are environment-friendly have soared in recent years. This spectacular house that stands on a mere 4 cents plot in Vadodara, Gujarat, is designed by ensuring that it doesn’t disrupt the ecological balance of the area.

The house which boasts of incredible contemporary architecture, however, is built using materials that are locally available. It stands as an impeccable lesson about how to build a human habitat by being in harmony with the surrounding nature. The walls of the house and the compound wall are built using clay tiles that help in reducing energy consumption by keeping the interiors cool and comfortable. Besides, these tiles grant a classy charm to the exteriors as well.

The roof is designed in multiple levels. Meanwhile, the rectangular pattern of the plot is repeated on the elevation too. The parapet wall is built using glass and steel. The terrace has been turned into a green space. The rustic finish of the terracotta tiles adds the perfect contrast against the serene white hue on the exteriors. Sitting spaces too have been arranged in the landscape.

The house, designed in 2690 sq ft area has a sit-out, foyer, living area, dining space, pooja space, kitchen with a store room, indoor garden, four bedrooms, balcony and an open terrace as well. A beautiful colour palette that is extremely soothing to the eyes is the highlight of the interiors. The enchanting colour combinations of golden yellow, white and blue are truly spectacular. The ceiling, steps of the stairway and the furniture don an elegant yellow hue.

The interiors are designed in the open style. The common areas are spacious and vast while the bedrooms are arranged by ensuring enough privacy. The exclusive Italian marble flooring lends a regal charm to the interiors. The living area and the dining space are on either side of the stairway. The cantilever stairway that has vertical hand railings in MS is an eye catching piece here. The formal living area is also used as the leisure spot in the house.

The dining table is made in sturdy solid wood. The pedestal wash basin is interesting. Meanwhile, the indoor garden near the dining area is unique. This vertical garden is made by arranging the plants on a wall paved with special clay tiles. The sliding roof here could be opened to illuminate the garden with natural sun shine.

The corner kitchen designed in the stunning colour combination of white and yellow is very attractive. The ceiling and the cabinets here are done in paint finish. The kitchen, meanwhile, is arranged by ensuring proper ventilation. The open kitchen has a small dining space as well.

There is one bedroom in the ground floor and three in the upper storey. Two bedrooms in the upper floor have balconies as well. The amazing headboards, side seats and colour combinations are what make the bedrooms unique and special.
