Here is the secret behind awesome look, budget of a house in Champakkara

champakkara house
The elevation is designed by perfectly blending the traditional and colonial architecture styles.

Maxon’s old house stood on a mere 6 cents plot in Champakkara, Kochi, Kerala. The family decided to renovate the house when time began taking a toll on the structure. Moreover, they were uncomfortable with the space constraints. However, Maxon desired to give his old house a modern makeover without burning a hole in his pocket. Designer Mejo was entrusted with the job of renovating the house adding facilities and making interiors more spacious. Reuse of materials played a pivotal role in keeping a check on the expenses. Most importantly, it helped in retaining the soul of the house.

The elevation is designed by perfectly blending the traditional and colonial architecture styles. The mud tiles that are paved on the roof were collected from an old church after it was dismantled. The windows, doors, furniture and the kitchen cabinets from the old house are reused with fresh coat of paints and polish.

Designed in 2000 sq ft, this fabulous abode has a car porch, sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen with work area, three bedrooms, upper living area and a home theatre. The home theatre is the only facility that has been newly added.

The interiors are designed in the open theme. More windows are added to illuminate the spaces with natural sunshine. Besides, these make the interiors spacious and add excellent cross ventilation as well.

The stairway features the classy combination of wood and steel. The wall here is highlighted using red texture paint.

The bedrooms are bath-attached and have in-built wardrobes. Windows too are installed in the bedrooms to invite plenty of sunlight.

The L-shaped kitchen has counter-top paved with white granite. The old kitchen cabinets, made in teak wood, are reused in this kitchen as well.

The old compound wall has been retained. Meanwhile, the front yard is paved with baby mettle. The family made sure to retain and protect the trees that stand on the plot even when they renovated the house. These trees and plants always maintain a cooler atmosphere around the house.

Interestingly, the construction of this amazing house was completed on a reasonable budget of Rs 27 lakh, which is well within the estimated budget.
