Saji and Fareeda, both bank employees, are elated about their brand new house at Subash Nagar in Kozhikode, Kerala. This beautiful house is quite special as it is a gift to Fareeda’s parents. Saji and his friend have jointly purchased a 10 cents plot. The house has been built on Saji’s share of 3 cents. The smartly designed house very effectively overcomes the spatial challenges posed by the small plot.
The elevation is in the flat box-style to utilize maximum space. The exterior walls don the classic colour combination of black and white.
Designed in 1470 sq ft area, this quaint yet beautiful house has a car porch, sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen, three bedrooms, upper hall, balcony and an open terrace. The interiors are designed in the open style which makes it vaster and spacious. Lighter shades of hues are used in the interiors as well to make the spaces look vaster.
The furnishing is mostly done in plywood with mica finish. Meanwhile, the floor is paved with vitrified tiles. The gypsum false ceiling and LED lighting add the perfect ambience to the interiors. Lots of windows are installed to ensure excellent cross ventilation.
The dining area is designed in double-height. One could easily catch a glimpse of this area from the upper floor. This also helps in facilitating amazing communication between both the floors. The modern dining table has bench on one side.
All the bedrooms are bath attached with wardrobes as well.
The kitchen cabinets are done in marine plywood with laminate finish. The counter top has been paved with granite. An adjacent work area too has been included as part of the kitchen.
The construction of the structure alone was completed on a budget of Rs 34 lakh while an additional Rs 11 lakh was spent for decorating and furnishing the interiors. So, a total of Rs 45 lakhs was the budget of this amazing house. Even though the house has been gifted to Fareeda’s parents, the couple too loves spending time here.
