Hussain, who is settled abroad, has built his dream dwelling close to his ancestral home in Kottakkal in Malappuram district, Kerala. He wanted a cute house with all the modern amenities where he could lead a peaceful retirement life when he returns to his hometown. Though the family wanted a simple and elegant house, they weren’t ready to compromise on the luxurious facilities.

The beautiful house that faces the east direction features a blend of contemporary and colonial architectural styles. The exterior walls don the classic color combination of black and white. Bangalore tiles in black color have been pasted on the outer walls of the bedrooms to reflect off the harsh sunlight that falls from the west side. Meanwhile, stylish terracotta jalis are the highlight of the elevation. Unique tiles that were exclusively imported from Portugal have been used for these. Interestingly, the warm air from the outside instantly cools down when it passes through this jali area. This feature ensures a cool and comfortable atmosphere inside the house.

Designed in 2500 sqft, the amazing abode has a sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen with a work area and four bedrooms. The spaces are arranged giving prime importance to abundant supply of natural air and sunshine. The open spaces make communication easier too.

The formal living area, designed in the Scandinavian theme, is classy and luxurious. The custom made L-shaped couch is truly an enchanting piece of furniture. Meanwhile, the wall behind it is highlighted with textured wall paper in attractive blue shade. A wall each in every area is highlighted with textured wall papers in unique shades of hues.

Exquisite Italian marble is used for flooring in the common areas. Meanwhile, silk finished vitrified tiles have been paved in the bedrooms.

The hand railings of the stairway are done in powder coated GI. An entire wall beneath the stairway is lined with windows to bring lots of breeze and sunlight into the house. A small deck space here has been separated as the family living area.

The kitchen cupboards are in acrylic sheet finish. Meanwhile, the counter top has been paved with granite.

Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes too.

Instead of paving interlocking bricks in the front yard, baby mettle has been used to allow the rain water to seep into the ground. The family is elated that they have combined luxury and elegance to build the house of their dreams.
