Abdul Shakeer, an expatriate has built his dream abode at his hometown in Poonoor near Thamaraserry in Kozhikode, Kerala. The family is proud to have built such a splendid house by overcoming the spatial challenges posed by the 9.5 cents rectangular plot. Abdul Shakeer wanted a cost effective double storey house with four bedrooms. However, the unique layout of the plot was quite challenging. The architect deserves credit for smartly conceptualizing this beautiful house with all the modern amenities.
The elevation is designed in the flat roof style to save space. Meanwhile, one side of the roof is sloped. The metal CNC jali near the entrance of the house is the highlight of the exteriors. The spacious sit out has lots of sitting spaces and is decorated with planter boxes.
The fabulous abode, designed in 2300 sqft has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with an adjacent work area and four bedrooms.
The semi open interiors look vaster and roomy. Meanwhile, the flooring has been done using moderately priced vitrified tiles. A display shelf is what separates the living and the dining areas. Making the interiors space efficient, the wash area has been arranged beneath the stairway.
Instead of high end exquisite wooden works, moderately priced timber has been used for furnishing. This helped in keeping a check on the expenses too. Tables, chairs, wardrobes, shelves and cots have been made using mahogany wood.
Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in built wardrobes too.
The kitchen is furnished in aluminum fabrication. The cupboards, meanwhile, are made using aluminum composite panel. The counter top has been paved with granite. The back splash on one side of the kitchen is highlighted using white colored tiles. A quaint breakfast counter too has been arranged as part of the kitchen.
The stairway leads to the upper hall and open terrace. The family plans to set up a beautiful terrace garden here.
It’s only been two weeks since the family has moved into the safety of their brand new house. They had celebrated the house warming ritual on the first week December. One would be surprised by the spacious interiors and the amazing facilities inside this house that stands on a congested plot.
