Blend of tradition, modern architecture makes this TVPM mansion scintillating abode

TVPM mansion
The mesmerizing landscape amazingly enhances the beauty of the structure.

Salim’s brand new house at Alamcode in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a unique structure that features the classic style of traditional architecture in the exteriors while the interiors exude the chic elegance of modern style. The house and the landscape have been designed by retaining the natural layout of the 25 cents plot. As the plot is uneven, the spaces in the house too are arranged in multiple levels.

The mesmerizing landscape is truly eye catching. It amazingly enhances the beauty of the structure. The walkway paved with cobble stones, the lush green lawns where Mexican grass is grown and the beautiful plants and shading trees grant a spectacular look and feel to the landscape. Meanwhile, the interiors are designed minimally giving significance to space management and efficiency.

Besides the main gate, there is also a small wicket gate designed in the form of a traditional padippura. The car porch is built separately from the main structure. The roof of the car porch too is paved with mud tiles to match the elevation of the house. The elegant charm of the Jaislamer stone cladding is the highlight of the elevation.

Designed in 3100 sqft, this fabulous mansion has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living spaces, dining area, kitchen with a work area, upper living area and five bedrooms.

The interiors aren’t decorated with harsh colours or ornamental false ceilings that are disturbing to the eyes. Vitrified tiles have been mostly paved on the floor. Meanwhile, wooden tiles are used as highlighters.

The formal living area is separated to ensure enough privacy. The family living area and the stair – dining area are arranged as part of the spacious hall. The family living area and the TV unit are a few feet below the floor level. The stair way has steps made in teak wood and steel hand railings. The water body beneath the stairway makes this area cooler. The stair area is in double height and the skylight on the ceiling here welcomes lots of natural sunshine into the house.

The simple dining table has a classic glass top. Interestingly, storage spaces are arranged below the wash area. The spacious kitchen opens to the dining area. A sliding glass door too has been installed here to ensure privacy. The cabinets, meanwhile, are done in marine plywood and mica finish. The counter top is paved with nano white. A quaint breakfast counter and a work area complete the kitchen.

Lots of in – built wardrobes have been arranged in the bedroom for storage. The bath-attached bedrooms have bay windows too. The walls in the balcony are fitted with wooden louvres to ensure air circulation. A hanging chair too is placed here.

Warm toned spot lights on the outer walls highlight the interesting features of the house. This spectacular abode exudes a unique glow when these highlighter lights are switched on at night. The family is thrilled that they got the house of their dreams where the enchanting charm of tradition merges with modern amenities.
