An architectural splendour, this Chengannur house is dream-worthy for its interiors

Chengannur house
Simple designs and space management make this Pandanad house a vision in white.

Abraham decided to dismantle his old ancestral home at Pandanad near Chengannur, Kerala, when time had begun taking a toll on the structure. The family then built a modern house that features chic contemporary designs. Interestingly, the house is perfectly designed to suit the tropical climate of Kerala.

The slope roof in multiple layers is paved with tiles. The serene charm of the white hue is the highlight of the elevation. As the plot is vaster, the front yard and the landscape are aesthetically designed to complement the overall look of the house. Yuuga Designs, an interior designing firm based in Kozhikode deserves credit for making the interiors look breathtaking. Lots of plants and shading trees are part of the landscape adding a canopy of greenery. The sit out too is decorated with interesting plants and shrubs. The car porch, meanwhile, is built separately from the main structure. At least two vehicles could be easily parked in this spacious car porch. The design theme of the house is followed in the porch too.

Designed in 2800 sqft, this fabulous abode has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony. The interiors are smartly furnished by including only what is required. Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor. Meanwhile, the furnishing is done in plywood with veneer finish. The elegant lighting on the gypsum false ceiling grants an enchanting ambience to the interiors.

The interiors are designed in the open style. The entrance door opens to a spacious hall where the living and the dining areas are separated using a semi partition. This partition is done in GI with plywood finish. Interestingly, this has been turned into a display shelf by adding niches.

The customized couches with elegant blue upholstery are what adorn the formal living area. Meanwhile, the highlighter wall pasted with brown texture tiles is truly an eye catching feature in the living area. The designer mirror, in the rising sun pattern, here instantly grabs attention. The frame of this mirror is done in MS.

The dining area is arranged on the other side of the display shelf. The simple dining table has standard wooden frame with glass top.

The hand railings of the stairway feature the amazing combination of stainless steel and toughened glass. Making the interiors more space efficient, a crockery shelf has been arranged beneath the stairway.

Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. Full length wardrobes in plywood and glossy laminate finish are arranged for storage. Besides, the headboards are done in PU paint finish. This too adds sheen to the overall look of the bedrooms.

The kitchen cupboards, meanwhile, are made in teak finish. Nano white has been paved on the counter top.

There is a living area and two bedrooms in the upper floor. From the balcony, one could enjoy the spectacular view of the landscape and the garden outside. The spot lights on the outer walls makes this amazing house shine against the twilight sky.
