The courtyard and landscape are the perfect open spaces for the kids to study and play.

Harish and Anju, a doctor couple, decided to demolish their concrete house to build a brand new eco friendly abode at Poojapura in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, as their old house had many flaws. Meanwhile, their new house is the perfect dwelling that respects the nature and suits the likes and needs of the family members. The house dons unique looks and features as it has been designed to include multiple ideas and requirements.

The grandmother in the house wanted to feel the nostalgic old world charm of a traditional setting. Meanwhile, the couple wanted modern amenities; so the main unit of the house has been designed in the modern style. The courtyard and landscape are the perfect open spaces for the kids to study and play.

The traditional area features the simple yet elegant charm of exposed bricks. The modern box style structure in white color theme is just behind this area. The glass ceiling that is projected above the white colored pillars is the highlight of this modern space.

Designed in 5500 sqft, this amazing mansion has a car porch, formal and family living areas, dining space, pooja space, kitchen, two bedrooms, consultation space and an outdoor sitting area in the ground floor. Meanwhile, there are two more bedrooms, a home theater and an open terrace in the upper floor. Interestingly, the uneven layout of the plot has greatly inspired the unique design of the house. The spaces have been arranged to suit the plot layout which is a little steep in the backside. So, height variations in the floor levels could be seen in the interiors too.

A breathtaking mural painting that covers an entire wall is the highlight of the main hall. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor. The stairway that is built in wood has stainless steel hand railings.

Even though the spaces in this house are arranged in multiple blocks, they have amazing connectivity to ensure communication between the family members. Courtyards and corridors are what connect these spaces. The warm sunshine and the cool rain showers come into the house through the open ceiling. A water body too has been arranged in the courtyard where the rain falls.

The bedrooms are uniquely designed to suit the interests of the family members. The bath attached bedrooms have wardrobes for storage. Meanwhile, the open kitchen has cabinets made in laminated ply.

The structure has been designed in a way to protect the trees that stood on the plot. The mango trees act as canopies of greenery above the house. Moreover, squirrels and birds have made these trees their home. A sitting area has been arranged outside for the family members to enjoy the wonderful sights of the nature. This area is now the favorite spot for the family to gather in the evenings.
