A breathtaking fusion house in Palakkad, owner thanks Manorama Online

fusion house in Palakkad
The plan was drawn considering the rectangular shape of the plot.

Shameer, an expatriate, is thrilled to share his experiences of building his dream dwelling at his hometown in Cherpulassery, Palakkad, Kerala. “I work at Oman. I am a regular reader of Manorama Online’s Home Style feature. It was this feature which inspired me to build a house of my own. I really liked a home designed by architect Asar Juman that I had seen in Manorama Online. I then contacted him to prepare the plan for my dream abode,” says Shameer.

The house is built in 16 cents that is adjacent to Shameer’s ancestral home. The plan was drawn considering the unique rectangular shape of the plot.

The classy elegance of fusion style is the highlight of this house. A blend of flat, slope and curve designs could be spotted on the elevation of the house. The family wanted a curved roof for the car porch. Meanwhile, shingles have been paved on the roof. There is a paddy filed in the backside of the house. So, the backyard too has been decorated as amazingly as the front side. The sliding glass windows let lots of cool breeze into the house. Metal grilles are installed here for additional safety.

The front yard is paved with beautiful tandoor stones. The long sit out has been designed as per the wishes of the family. A circular carving on the wall here ensures that the view of the road isn’t blocked from one end of the sit out.

This fabulous abode, designed in 2650 sqft, has a car porch, sit out, living and dining areas, prayer space, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, upper living area, study space and balcony. The furniture pieces are customized to suit the general theme of the house. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor.

The formal living area has privacy and one couldn’t garb a view of the rest of the interiors from here. The dining area, meanwhile, is part of the open hall.

The stylish dining table is built by paving nano white on GI frame.

A wall in the living area has been highlighted to install the TV unit. Cement boards have been used for highlighting this wall. Besides, a layer of synthetic grass adds the perfect contrast here.

The stairway in wooden finish is classy and compact. The hand railings feature toughened glass in wooden frame. The wall below the stairway has been painted with a popping highlighter shade. A mirror is placed here as an elegant decoration. Meanwhile, a prayer area too has been separated beneath the stairway. A CNC jali partition is what separates this area and makes it a private and comfortable space. The incredible jali designs ensure that the partition does not block the warm sunrays that come in through this side. A mini family – sitting too has been arranged beside the stair area.

The first landing of the stairway has been turned into a study space where the walls are lined with glass sliding windows.

The bedrooms are beautiful and space efficient. The headboards are highlighted to grant unique looks to the rooms. The bath attached bedrooms have huge sliding wardrobes for storage. Besides, concealed storage spaces are built as part of the cots.

The kitchen cabinets are done in ply wood with mica finish. Meanwhile, nano white has been paved on the counter top. The glossy tiles pasted on the splash back grants a classy sheen to this area.

It’s only been two weeks since the family had celebrated the housewarming ritual and moved into their amazing abode. Shameer says he had always noticed the interesting trends that appear in the Home Style feature. He is joyous that he could adopt some of those amazing ideas for his brand new house too.
