Saleem Thalayi’s mega mansion at Edacheri near Vadakara, Kerala, celebrates luxury and classy elegance in all its grandeur. The owner, an expatriate, has always wanted his dream dwelling to be a signature building in his hometown. Besides, he wanted to honor the great cultural heritage of the Gulf, the land which gave him all the luxuries in life, through design elements and architectural features. The palatial house stands on a plot that is a few feet above the level of the road. So, the roofs have been designed in classic domes to make the house look shorter. Interestingly, the awe-inspiring exteriors have been inspired by the iconic Hagia Sophia mosque in Turkey.
The unique elevation, huge pillars that look like ornamental columns, the designer claddings that look like sand stones, the spacious sit out and the balcony add to the enchanting look of this magnificent mansion. The landscape has been paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers. The tastefully done landscape and the in – built sitting spaces around the mango tree are some of the interesting features outside the house.
Those who enter this palatial abode would definitely feel as if they are in a grand resort. This haven of luxury boasts of common spaces designed in the open style, elegant wooden paneling, pillars with stone claddings, false ceilings that add a golden sheen to the interiors and fancy lighting that is extremely pleasant.
Sprawled in 12000 sqft, this plush mansion has a car porch, foyer, formal and family living area, dining space, courtyard, and show kitchen, working kitchen, upper living area, study area, five bedrooms, balcony and an open terrace. The extravagance of Turkish marble adds an impeccable grace to the interiors.
The formal living area is designed in double height. The wall here is highlighted with texture paint. Meanwhile, fresh air and pleasant sunshine enter the house in abundance through the window in the corner.
The courtyard designed in the bamboo theme is the highlight of the interiors. The interior spaces are arranged around this area. Interestingly, the bamboo that is planted in the courtyard has been specially imported from China.
The family living area is arranged as part of the open hall. Meanwhile, the TV wall has been separated by adding profile lights on wooden strips.
The dining area too has double height ceiling. The white dining table with glass top and the chairs that have chic upholstery work add the perfect contrast here. A door cum window leads to the adjacent prayer area.
The grand stairway does justice to the luxurious look of the interiors. The split staircase is majestic and adds to the opulence of the house. Strip lights have been installed on the steps to highlight them. Meanwhile, the steps and the hand railings are made using imported wood. The beautiful CNC cutting designs on the hand railings are amazing.
The bedrooms are uniquely designed to suit the interests of the family members. The rooms have attached bathrooms, full length sliding wardrobes, separate dressing areas and sitting space too. The headboards are highlighted using attractive wall papers and profile lighting on wooden strips.
The island kitchen is furnished in the splendid color combination of green and white. The cabinets here are done in premium acrylic sheets. Meanwhile, the counter top has been paved with nano white. The glossy tiles pasted on splash back grants a classy sheen to the kitchen.
The swimming pool is in the backside and has been built by ensuring privacy. This has now become the children’s favorite hangout spot.
It would take at least half an hour for the guests to walk around and enjoy the fabulous features of this spectacular abode. Meanwhile, Saleem and his family are thrilled that their dream dwelling has become a major landmark in the area.
