Farooq’s brand new house at Thalassery in Kannur, Kerala stands out for its interesting features that help overcome the spatial challenges of a smaller plot. The house has been designed as a linear structure to suit the 6.5 cents plot that lies in a straight line.
The owner belongs to a huge family of five siblings. So, this house has been built on their family property as an amazing place where all the families could gather under the same roof.
Car porch has been avoided in the structure as there isn’t a need for it. The exterior walls don the serene charm of the white hue with just one wall highlighted with pleasant blue shade. Meanwhile, the glass pergola ceiling on the balcony adds a chic look to the elevation.
Designed in 2800 sqft, this beautiful dwelling has a sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, five bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony.
The common areas are designed in the open style as the house is primarily a place for hosting get together. Huge windows on the structure bring lots of sunshine and cool breeze into the house. There is no need to switch on the lights during the day as the spaces are illuminated with natural sunlight.
The interior walls mostly don various shades of blue. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor. The custom made furniture amazingly suits the general theme of the house. Mahogany has been mostly used for furnishing here. Interestingly, the stairway and the TV unit also act as semi partitions that separate the areas.
The bedrooms are simple yet elegant. Attached bathrooms too have been arranged in the bedrooms. The kitchen furnished in the wooden theme has cabinets done in multi wood with PU paint finish.
This splendid house, with smart designs and interesting features, completely takes advantage of the unique structure of the plot.
