Jinu Papachan, an expatriate, is proud and elated to show around his brand new house at Kanjoor near Kalady, Kerala. Having grown up in a small house, Jinu had gone abroad to work and build the life that he enjoys now. To honour the memories of his humble upbringing, Jinu has retained his small ancestral home that stands just beside his luxury mansion.
Jinu had met architect Shinto through a common friend. By that time, the constriction of the structure had already begun. Jinu liked Shinto’s previous works and entrusted the latter to design his dream dwelling. Shinto, meanwhile, made significant changes in the initial plan of the structure and the interiors too.
The grand elevation that resembles a luxurious European mansion is the highlight of this house. GI truss roof that has been paved with mud tiles is installed on the flat roof. The attic area between the GI truss work and the flat roof could be easily used as a multi-purpose utility space. Besides, the harsh sun rays wouldn’t enter the house, making the interiors extremely cool and comfortable. The combination of white, blue and grey colored roofing tiles add to the classy look of the elevation.
The interiors don the unique elegance of the contemporary style. Designed in 3600 sqft, this fabulous mansion has a car porch, sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen with a work area, five bedrooms, upper living area, balcony and a covered terrace. Vitrified tiles in Italian marble finish have been paved on the floor.
The beautiful furniture has been customized to match the amazing theme of the house. Plywood and veneer have been mostly used for furnishing and paneling. The highlighter walls in the interiors are enhanced with attractive paints in golden metallic finish.
From the dining space, one could get to the patio which is perfect spot to host small gatherings.
Besides a pantry kitchen, there is a separate working kitchen too. The cabinets, meanwhile, are done in multi wood with laminate finish. The counter top has been paved with nano white.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor while two are in the upper storey. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes for storage and separate dressing units too.
This majestic mansion represents the perseverance and success saga of a commoner who has strived hard in a foreign land to earn a better living.
