Vijish who works in a marine oil company is someone who frequently travels to different parts of the world as part of his job. For him, building a house of his own in his hometown at Thangalam near Kothamangalam, Kerala, has been the greatest dream. His wife who is a teacher and their two kids stay at their brand new house which exudes classy elegance.

The elevation features the stylish contemporary style. The outer walls are highlighted with wooden finish tiles. Meanwhile, the front yard has been paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers. The design elements from the structure are followed on the gate and the compound wall too.

Designed in 2967 sqft, this amazing abode has a car porch, sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area and five bedrooms.

The elaborately furnished formal living area is the highlight of this house. A stunning art work that depicts the world map instantly grabs attention. Moreover, clocks that show the various time zones too are hung here. These are not just decorative features, but helps in scheduling phone calls between Vijish and his family.

The structure is built by strictly following the rules of the vastusastra which ensures excellent cross ventilation inside the house.

The stair area is designed in double height. The chic couch enhanced with yellow upholstery is what separates the family living area. Windows line the double height wall beside the stairway. These windows bring lots of cool breeze and natural sun shine into the house.

The beautiful courtyard beneath the stairway is spectacular. One could enter this space through a foldable glass door. The courtyard, designed in the Buddha theme, exude positive vibes. A wall here is highlighted with laterite claddings and a Buddha statue is places here. Meanwhile, the roof has a toughened glass ceiling. Sitting spaces and indoor plants make this the coziest spot in the house.

The pantry counter is what separates the open kitchen and the dining area. Interestingly, this could also be used as a breakfast table.

The cabinets, done in multi wood and HDF panel with PU paint finish, grants an elegant look to the kitchen. The counter top, meanwhile, is paved with granite. An adjacent work area makes the kitchen extremely space efficient.

The bedrooms are simple yet beautiful. The head side walls are highlighted with texture paints. They are decorated with framed art works too. The bedrooms have attached bathrooms and in – built wardrobes.

This spectacular house has been the perfect New Year gift for the family. Vijish too had reached to celebrate the house warming ritual.
