Business man Vinay Varghese’s fabulous house in the 8 cents plot at Edappally in Ernakulam, Kerala, stands out for its perfect geometric design patterns. The structure is uniquely built to suit the small rectangular plot in the city.
The elevation features a flat, box-style look. Meanwhile, the cement texture and the claddings add the perfect contrasts. Besides the car porch that is built as part of the structure, there is a separate porch in the front yard too. Paved with natural stones and grass, the front yard looks clean and well maintained.
The furniture has been custom-made to suit the general theme of the house. The formal living area has been separated to ensure enough privacy. Beautiful furniture and unique showpieces are what adorn this area. The mirror on the wall makes the room appear spacious than it actually is.
The family living area, dining space and the stair area are all part of the spacious open hall. The stair area has a double height ceiling. The family living area and the TV unit are just beside the stair area. The elegant couch enhanced with rose colored fabric upholstery is an eye catching piece here. The foldable glass door in the hall opens to the yard. The exquisite Italian marble flooring grants opulence to the common areas. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in the bedrooms. The classic combination of wood and toughened glass on the hand railings makes the stairway look elegant.
The dining table with an Italian marble table top is the highlight of the hall. Meanwhile, simple chairs in artificial green leather complete the classy dining table set.
From the dining area, one could get to the patio through the glass door. Natural light enters the interiors through this glass door, lighting up the spaces in golden sunshine. Rolling shutters are installed here for added safety. The outer courtyard, meanwhile, is arranged by paving frosted glass on GI tubes. This area is paved with Kadappa stones on the floor and is decorated with pebbles and beautiful indoor plants that add a hint of greenery.
The island kitchen has cupboards done in multi wood with laminate finish. The counter top, meanwhile, is paved with stellar stone.
Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The spacious rooms have attached bathrooms, wardrobes, separate dressing units and chairs. Mirrors are fixed on the full length sliding wardrobes and this makes the rooms look spacious.
Instead of an upper living area, a modern home theater has been arranged in the first floor. The entire house is run on electricity produced by solar panels that are installed on the roof. The family is proud that they could do their bit to conserve the environment. Moreover, they are not burdened by the hefty current bills.
