A unique promise that made a stunning house happen in Ponnani

The elevation features a splendid blend of traditional and modern styles.

The story of this fabulous abode in Ponnani in Kerala begins way before the owner purchased the plot to construct his dream dwelling. Muhammad Aneesh, a native of Ponnani had looked around quite a bit for the perfect plot in his hometown. Finally, he liked a 13 cents ‘L’ shaped plot that is rectangular on one side. Aneesh brought many designers to his plot to assess the scope of building a house here. Most of them tried dissuading him from buying this plot saying that it would be difficult to construct a comfortable house here.

Finally, he met the talented designers at Brick and Stone, a well known designing firm based in Ponnani. They visited the plot and promised to build Aneesh’s dream home at this plot. Aneesh soon purchased the land and the designers kept their word by building a beautiful house within a few months.

The elevation features a splendid blend of traditional and modern styles. A GI truss roof has been installed over the flat roof and is paved with roofing tiles. As there is space between both the roofs, the hot sun rays wouldn’t directly fall on the flat roof. So, the interiors have a pleasant atmosphere even during the noon time.

The multi-layer elevation is an interesting feature. A wall highlighted with yellow texture paint adds the perfect contrast here. The plot wasn’t wide enough to accommodate a car porch. The designers overcame this challenge by including the porch with a slanting roof. Moreover, this gives a very chic look to the elevation.

Designed in 2800 sqft, this spectacular abode has a car porch, sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms and an upper study area.

Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in the common areas. Interestingly, wooden finished tiles have been used for highlighting the areas.

Meanwhile, the furnishing in the common areas is done in plywood with mica finish. The elegant furniture pieces are custom made to gel with the general theme of the house.

The minimal gypsum false ceiling adds a graceful ambience to the interiors. Instead of enhancing it with unnecessary wooden elements, the false ceiling retains its charming plain finish.

The formal living area is on the right side of the entrance door. The passage paved with wooden tiles is what connects this area to the rest of the house. Interestingly, the ‘L’ shaped couch in the living area represents the unique shape of the plot. The TV unit is installed on a wall here which is highlighted with elegant panelling. The family living area isn’t separated in the house. However, the space below the stair area has been utilized by arranging a couch here.

The amazing stairway, built by reducing unnecessary wastage of space, is the highlight of the interiors. It is built by doing industrial work using GI. Instead of hand railings, there is a decorative wall done with GI in mica finish. This unique design is very impressive and gives a modern and chic look to the stair area.

The double height ceiling in the dining area gives more breathing space and vastness to the interiors. Besides, this acts as a feature that connects both the floors.

The kitchen cupboards are made in multi wood with mica finish. The counter top, meanwhile, is paved with quartz.

Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes for storage.

The house warming ritual of this amazing house was celebrated in December last year. The family is grateful to the designers at Brick and Stone for building them a mesmerizing abode just as they had dreamed. For Aneesh and family, every moment in their brand new home is special and they are enjoying every bit of it.
