Italian marble floor, artistic wood work; hygge of interiors that beckons

Kozhikode house
The house and its surroundings exude a unique countryside serenity.

Moideen and his family didn’t have to think twice before purchasing a plot at Chalappuram in Kozhikode, Kerala and build their dream home here, as they have been quite displeased with the congested spaces and limited facilities in their old house. This 12.5 cents plot is right in the middle of the town, yet is surrounded by shady trees and lush greenery. The owner, who is a manager at the LIC, says that the house and the surroundings exude the unique and serene feel of countryside.

The elevation features the grand colonial architecture which instantly draws eyes. Moreover, the enchanting white hue adds grace and panache to the structure. The outer walls have highlighter designs in cement groves. Meanwhile, the sturdy pillars are adorned with grey colored cladding stones which set the perfect contrast against the white color theme. The front yard is paved with attractive Bangalore stones. The verdant lawns, sitting spaces and the beautiful plants make the garden extremely captivating. The floating style bench that connects two pillars in the long verandah is an interesting feature.

Designed in 3130 sqft, this colonial mansion has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, balcony and an open terrace.

The grand opulence of Italian marble flooring adds a touch of luxury to the spaces. Meanwhile, glossy tiles have been used for flooring in the bedrooms. The false ceiling in gypsum veneer finish and the complementary LED fittings adds a magical ambience to the interiors.

The entrance door opens to the elegantly furnished formal living area. Stylish furniture unit in maroon color theme grant a regal charm to this area. The spacious dining hall is just beside the living area. Interestingly, the family living area and the wash area too are arranged as part of the open hall. The modish dining table can comfortably accommodate six people.

The hand railings of the stairway feature the classic combination of wood and toughened glass. The family living area has been arranged just beneath the stair area in an attempt to make the interiors more space efficient. The wash area, meanwhile, is right beside here. The stair way leads to a spacious upper living area where a glass window brings in golden sunshine.

Two bedrooms have been arranged in both the floors. These rooms follow unique design patterns with lots of storage spaces. An entire wall in each bedroom has been lined with cupboards to make the rooms functional. Meanwhile, the fabulous nature outside could be enjoyed from the quaint sitting spaces that are arranged close to the huge windows.

The modern kitchen has cabinets done in multi wood finish. The counter top, meanwhile, has been paved with Kalinga stones. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen.

The family is elated that they have moved into their brand new house where colonial grandeur joins hands with modern amenities. The profile lights on the outer walls add more dimension and grace to this mesmerizing abode at night.
