Vinayan’s beautiful sea side abode in the picturesque coastal hamlet of Arthunkal in Alappuzha, Kerala features a fabulous blend of modern – contemporary style. The house has been designed keeping in mind the unique weather of the coastal area which receives harsh sunlight during the summer and heavy down pours during the monsoon. Designed in 3500 sqft, this classy dwelling has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, and courtyard, kitchen with an adjacent work area, four bedrooms and balcony. The elegant grace of white and grey color theme is a highlight. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles in grey – wooden theme have been paved on the floor which adds the perfect contrast against the light colored walls.
The spacious dining hall is the soul of the house, which in fact connects the private and the public areas. The double height ceiling makes this space look and feel vaster. The folding glass door here opens to the greenery on the side of the house. Moreover, cool breeze enters the house through the doors, ensuring excellent cross ventilation too.
The stairway is compact and do not take too much space inside the house. It has wooden steps fitted on a basic metal frame. There is a bridge like area, in the upper floor, which connects the spaces. The circular skylight above this bridge looks fabulous and brings lots of golden sun rays into the house.
The bedrooms are simple and have lots of storage spaces. There are walk in wardrobes in two bedrooms while a separate dressing space has been arranged in one room. All the bedrooms are bath attached.
The extremely functional kitchen too dons the elegant color theme of white and grey. The cupboards, meanwhile, are done in plywood – laminate finish. Nano white has been paved on the counter top. An adjacent work area completes the spacious kitchen area.
