Mujeeb, an expatriate is thrilled to show around his brand new palatial house at Chembod in Kannur, Kerala. Architect couple Nufail and Shabana deserves credit for designing such a spectacular abode that has already become the talk of the town. The elevation perfectly complements the layout of the 30 cents rectangular plot. The contemporary – fusion theme of the house is what draws instant attention. The slope roof that is paved with shingles has been designed, keeping in mind the tropical climate of Kerala. Meanwhile, the interiors are designed in a way which makes maintenance hassle free, as the expatriate family would be residing here only during the holidays.

Designed in 5000 sqft, this mega mansion has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, kitchen with an adjacent work area, five bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony.

The spacious car porch can easily accommodate two vehicles at the same time. The splendid views from the main road could be enjoyed from the sit out and the balcony. Similarly, one could grab a view of the gate and the entrance area from the master bedroom.

A folding glass door in the family living area opens to the patio which is furnished with minimal yet elegant furniture sets. A vertical garden too has been arranged here to add a hint of pleasant greenery. The dining space, meanwhile, is arranged by ensuring enough privacy and cannot be viewed from the formal living area.

The courtyard is the focal point of the interiors as the enchanting view of it could be enjoyed from all the areas in the house. The floor of the courtyard is paved with shiny pebbles. Meanwhile, a hanging cot adds a traditional charm to this area. Moreover, beautiful indoor plants too have been used to decorate the courtyard.

The metal CNC designs on the hand railings are the highlight of the stairway. The tall ceiling of the ground floor is an interesting feature. Meanwhile, the arch shaped ceiling on the upper floor grants an elegant charm to the interiors.

There are two bedrooms in the ground floor while there are three in the upper storey. The bath attached bedrooms have wardrobes and separate dressing spaces too.

The pantry kitchen opens to the spacious hall. A quaint breakfast counter too has been arranged here. The cupboards in the kitchen are done in multi wood with glass finish. Exclusive handmade tiles have been pasted on the splash back, adding classy elegance to the kitchen area.

The family is grateful to the architects for designing such a fabulous abode in their hometown, just as they have imagined.
