Home theatre business has soared in the country ever since the outbreak of COVID-19, which forced the theatres to shut down. The sellers say that there has been a stellar 62% rise in the sale of home theatres and its related equipments. Android streaming devices like Amazon Fire Stick and Chromecast could be easily connected to projectors which enable 4K viewing quality on the big screen.

Mini theatres

Leaving spaces specially to install a home theatre has become the trend while building modern abodes. It would cost up to 3.5 lakhs to arrange a fully fledged home theatre system which includes a white screen, HD projector, four couches, dolby atmos sound system and an android streaming device. The acoustic or sound systems are mostly imported from foreign countries. However, since the demand has gone up during the lockdown, there are takers even for the old models.

5.1, 7.1 are the sound systems that are mostly in demand. HD projectors are available from Rs 59,000 onwards. Meanwhile, it would cost up to 1.25 lakh in case the customer opts for 4K. Pasting movie posters on the wall, installing a pop corn vending machine and hanging ‘Exit’ boards near the door to achieve that perfect theatre ambience too have become common. Besides these, ordinary projectors that cost from Rs 5000 onwards could be purchased online. It indeed is an affordable option in case you do not have the budget to install a complete home theatre. Dolby sound bars too are available within a price range of Rs 5000 – 6000.

No special spot

People who reside in flats are mostly the ones who look for compact home theatres. A decent home theatre could be easily arranged in an area of just 150 sqft. Balcony, space above the car porch, living area and terrace are some of the spaces that could be turned into cozy home theatres.

During the lockdown period, setting up home theatres in living areas have become common. TV screen that could be folded using a remote wouldn’t mar the look or ambience of the living area. Fully automated active living theatres too are in trend. Just a click on the theatre mode button in your mobile application would automatically draw in the window curtains, switch off the lights, roll down the screen and switch on the projector, transforming your home into a chic theatre.
