Subeesh’s brand new house at Avanissery in Thrissur, Kerala is an architectural gem that draws instant attention. The owner desired a minimal house with all the modern amenities that are required for a small family. Moreover, the family wanted to build their dream abode without breaking the bank. The house, that sports some incredible design features, is the perfect example of a minimal yet beautiful house.
It is the 45 degree slanted roof that gives the elevation an interesting triangular shape. The car porch is built right in front of the structure so that the vehicle could be easily parked in the small plot. Meanwhile, the water lily pond and the verdant lawn on the backside add an enchanting ambience to the premises. Designed in 1991 sqft, this minimal dwelling has a sit out, formal and family living areas, kitchen with a work area and three bedrooms. Vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor in this house. The custom made furniture amazingly complements the general theme of the house.
The sit out has in – built sitting spaces. A highlighter wall in pleasant grey color theme is an eye catching feature of the formal family living area. The family living area, meanwhile, is just adjacent to this space. The yellow cushions on the couches here break the monotony of the lighter shades and add a vibrant mood.
The spacious dining area is the focal point of this house. The rest of the spaces are arranged around this area. The dining area boasts of double height ceiling which makes this area look incredibly spacious. Roofing tiles have been paved on the GI truss roof, adding a hint of traditional vibe. Meanwhile, the green courtyard near this area is the soul of the house where the family members love to spend time.
Instead of expensive timber, alternate materials have been used for furnishing. This has helped in significantly reducing the construction costs. Timber has been used only for the main doors. Rest of the doors and windows are done in UPVC. The stairway is simple and does not feature any costly intricate designs. Wooden planks have been paved on MS tube frame to build the stair way.
There are two bedrooms in the ground floor while one is in the upper storey. The bath attached bedrooms have wardrobes for storage. The minimal kitchen is space efficient and modern. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen area.
The balcony has been designed as part of the upper storey bedroom. Unlike the regular balconies, this one is closed and personal. The fabulous beauty of the water lily pond and the golden sun rays that come in from the west side could be enjoyed to one’s heart’s content at this balcony.
This inclined house is charming, comfortable, and modern and is easy to maintain too. The guests too are impressed by this simple yet amazing house that meets all the requirements of the family.
