Simple and classy, this Thrissur house is a perfect holiday home

The elevation of the house features a contemporary-fusion style.

Piyus runs a business in Belgaum in Karnataka and he is settled there with his family. However, it was his long-cherished dream to build a house of his own in his hometown of Mangad in Thrissur district. He decided to construct the house in the 10 cents plot that he had received as ancestral property, so that he wouldn’t lose his inherent bond with his hometown. It is a corner plot with roads running on two sides. The structure has been designed to suit the unique layout of the plot. Interestingly, the house dons unique looks on different sides. Three balconies have been arranged in this house to enjoy the views of the vibrant streets.

The elevation features a contemporary-fusion style. The slope roof in double layers has been paved with roofing tiles. Grey coloured natural cladding stones have been used to decorate the double-height wall in the elevation. Besides breaking the monotony of the lighter shades, this designer wall grants a chic look to the elevation.

Besides the main gate, there is a wicket gate too. The unique design of the compound wall has already been attracting spectators. Fencing has been done using steel mesh and then filled with pebbles to build the designer element on the compound wall. The owner proudly says that lots of people had copied this design for their own homes, after being impressed by it.

Designed in 2450 sqft, this fabulous abode has a car porch, sit out, living and dining areas, show kitchen, three bedrooms and balconies. The structure has been designed to make maintenance easier as the family lives here only during the holidays.

Most of the common areas in this house are designed in double-height making the interiors looks and feel incredibly vaster. The living area is elegantly furnished, yet has privacy too. The designer false ceiling is the most attractive feature here. Arrangements have been made to install a TV unit in the formal living area. The flooring is done using Indian marble. Meanwhile, most of the furniture pieces are custom-made in exquisite teak wood.

The simple dining table has a bench on one side. Windows line the lower part of the double-height wall here. Lots of natural sunshine enter the house through these windows, filling the spaces with graceful ambience. The stairway is just beside the dining area. The hand railings feature the classic combination of teak wood and glass finish. The steps, meanwhile, have been paved with granite.

The prayer space is adorned with beautiful wood paneling that has amazing carving works on it. This area exudes a serene vibe that spreads in the entire house.

The false ceiling in gypsum and veneer finish boast of designer carvings too. Moreover, the LED light fittings perfectly complement this, making the interiors look pleasant.

There is one bedroom in the ground floor while two are in the upper floor. The spacious bedrooms have full-length wardrobes, separate dressing spaces and attached bathrooms too. The headboards in each bedroom are decorated in unique color theme.

There are two functional kitchens in this house. Both are designed in unique color themes. The cabinets are done in lacquered glass finish, adding a glossy sheen to this area. Meanwhile, the countertop has been paved with Kalinga stone. The work area is furnished in mica finish.

Minimal landscape has been designed here to make maintenance easier. Lots of fruit-bearing trees are planted in the garden. A gardener too has been hired to water and tend to these plants. The owner says that he felt happy seeing birds nesting on these trees, when he was home for a vacation. The family, meanwhile, is thrilled that their ‘double-faced’ house has become a major landmark in the area.
