Hari, an expatriate, is proud to share his experiences of building his dream abode at his hometown in Mannanthala in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. This fabulous abode has been built by overcoming the spatial challenges of the 4.75 cents plot.
The rectangular plot on the roadside is just 12 metres wide. Interestingly, the structure stands on just 2.5 cents after leaving the set-back area.
The flat box elevation makes the structure compact and helps in saving space. The serene charm of the white hue dons most of the walls in this house. Meanwhile, wooden cladding and textures add perfect contrast. The suspended-style car porch has been added later. The classy design of the car porch roof with wooden panelling done beneath the PVC sheet is attractive.
More than a stylish designer element, the hurudees wall in the front is a smart addition that camouflages the well.
The interiors are designed in a semi-open style. While making the spaces vaster, this feature ensures privacy too. The formal living area has been designed in double-height catering to the preference of the family. This makes the interiors look and feel incredibly vaster.
The design of the stairway is quite interesting. Wooden panels have been used to cover the concrete steps here. Meanwhile, the hand railings are in an elegant glass finish.
The green courtyard beneath the double-height stair area is an amazing spot in the house. The hanging cot adds a unique charm to this area. Besides, the wash area too has been arranged close to this. The natural stone cladding design on the wall here is an eye-catching designer element.
Vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor in this house. The furniture pieces in the formal living area are ready-made. Meanwhile, the furniture in the rest of the house is custom-made to suit the general theme of the house.
The bar counter in the upper living area is an interesting feature.
Two bedrooms each have been arranged on both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in–built wardrobes for storage.
The kitchen cabinets are done in plywood and glass finish. The countertop has been paved with artificial granite.
The owner says that their relatives and friends are awed by the splendid house that is built in just under 4 cents.
