Chic and space efficient, this contemporary Manjeri house dazzles

Businessman Ashkar Babu is elated to show around his dream dwelling that he had built in 14 cents, closer to his ancestral home in Manjeri, Malappuram. The rectangular plot that is just 15 metres wide, however, posed a major challenge while the plan was being drawn. It is quite impressive how the architect has managed to design a chic house that perfectly suits the unique layout of the plot.

The beautiful elevation in multiple levels offers a fabulous view of the house from the road. The show wall clad with decorative bricks is the highlight of the elevation. The terrace is open and spacious. However, the tall parapet hides this area, offering enough privacy.

Designed in 2360 sqft, this fabulous abode has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms and an upper living area.

Interestingly, the car porch is built right in the middle, granting a majestic elegance to the façade. The entrance door opens to the guest living area. The interiors, meanwhile, have been designed in an open style.

The cosy family living area is arranged beneath the stairway, making the interiors compact and space-efficient.

There is no place for over–the–top décor or expensive furnishing in this house. The marble-paved flooring works is neat and classy. Meanwhile, the custom-made furniture perfectly compliments the general theme of the house. False ceiling hasn’t been installed in this minimal house. Instead, light points are directly given.

The kitchen and the work area have been arranged as a single spacious area, without any partition in the middle. The cabinets are done in plywood with mica finish. Meanwhile, the breakfast counter acts as a semi partition too.

Two bedrooms each have been arranged in both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have in–built wardrobes for storage.

Those who visit the family at their new house shower praises on the well-designed interiors that hardly make the house look like it has been built on a narrow plot.
