Anu George, who is an expatriate, is proud to show around his brand - new colonial style house that exudes the serene grace of the white hue. The single storey house that stands in 42 cents, in Peechi, Thrissur district has been deigned to suit the needs and interests of the family. They wanted a single storey house as it would be easy to maintain. Besides, they believe that it makes communication and bonding between family members easier.
The slope roof adds an old-world charm to the fabulously designed elevation. Dormer windows that are the highlights of colonial mansions could be seen here too. Meanwhile, the flat roof in the backside of the house has a GI truss roof installed over it. This area could be used as a utility space, making the house space efficient and smart.
The beautifully done landscaping too plays a vital role in enhancing the overall look of the elevation. The verdant lawns, classic planter boxes and the drive way perfectly complement the colonial style. The architects deserve credit for arranging all the modern amenities in single storey. Designed in 2500 sqft, this mesmerizing abode has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, two courtyards, kitchen with an adjacent work area and four bedrooms. Besides the main entrance in the sit out, there is another entrance beside the car porch that opens to the family living area.
The flooring done in matte finished tiles is chic and grants a clean look to the interiors. The custom-made furniture, meanwhile, is classy and gels well with the general theme of the house. The double courtyards are the highlight of the beautifully furnished interiors. These courtyards ensure excellent cross ventilation inside the house and naturally illuminates the areas with golden sunshine.
The courtyard is the focal point of the spacious formal living area. The wall here is decorated with an interesting wall paper that looks like wooden logs. Indoor plants, meanwhile, add a hint of pleasant greenery too.
The family living area is compact, with the second courtyard separating it from the dining space. The modern dining table set has bench on one side. The charming hanging lights adds a splendid ambience to the dining area. The indoor palms that are grown in the courtyard here looks majestic.
The kitchen is arranged at the perfect spot as one could easily watch the gates from here. The ‘L’ shaped modern kitchen has cabinets done MDF finish. The counter top has been paved with nano white. Instead of a usual breakfast counter, a hob has been fixed at the area that opens to the dining space. This could be turned into a breakfast spot too if a few high chairs are arranged on the other side.
The bedrooms have been designed in interesting themes and colour combinations. The designs on the head side boards grant unique identities to the beautifully furnished bedrooms. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes for storage too.
