The Buddha-themed interiors of actor Jayasurya’s Kadavanthra house is surreal

Actor Jayasurya who has been entertaining the Malayali audience with splendid performances and unique characters is busy filming a handful of big-budget movies. He has high hopes for ‘Kathanar’ which is being made on a huge canvas. Besides, he will be acting in ‘Eesho’, ‘Meri Avas Suno’ and ‘John Luther’. Meanwhile, the actor and his family are thrilled to fulfill a special dream. They have recently finished decking up their brand new house at Kadavanthra in Ernakulam.

The house that is around a decade and a half old was purchased by the actor a few years ago. He wanted to turn it into a peaceful and serene hang out space, to unwind from his busy filming schedules.

Jayasury told designer Manoj Kumar that he wished for a unique space where he could disconnect from the bustle of the vibrant city and spend a few days in a meditative and tranquil mood.

The Buddha theme of Jayasurya’s luxury flat at Marine Drive has been followed in this house too. The interiors have been designed to exude an incredible positive energy.

The elevation of the old house was covered in AC sheet to give it a modern and chic look. Besides adding a spectacular look to the elevation, this feature ensures privacy too. The compound wall has been built by filling mettle in wire mesh.

The interiors of this house were congested and lacked space. So, it has been modified to make the spaces vaster and beautiful. Now, the house has a classy living area, two bedrooms, kitchen, a home theatre and a relaxing space in 2200 sqft.

Laminated wood is used for flooring in the formal living area. Meanwhile, polished marble has been paved on the floor in the rest of the house. The ready made furniture perfectly complements the general theme of the house.

The bedroom walls don unique texture work with rustic cement finish. Interestingly, this grants an old world charm to these rooms. Meanwhile, the modern home theatre enhanced with dolby acoustics facilities is a fabulous addition.

Besides the main gate, there is a wicket gate too. If this gate is open, the Buddha idol in the living area is clearly visible from the road. The house has been aptly named ‘Bodhi’ which means enlightenment or awakening. Jayasury and his family reach here whenever the actor gets some free time, to fill the interiors of ‘Bodhi’ with peaceful charm and joy.
