Usually, the interests and preferences of old people in the family aren’t considered while designing the home. This often creates problems for the old parents, especially if they are alone at home. Anas was particular that his parents’ interests too should be considered while preparing the plan of his dream dwelling at Muvattupuzha. His father is bedridden. So, the spaces in this house have been designed as wheel chair friendly. Besides, he wanted a single storey house as he didn’t want the rest of the family to be aloof from his old father.
The beautiful gardens and spacious front yard are the highlights of this house. So, a wheel chair ramp too has been built close to the stairs. The amazing look of the elevation could be enjoyed from the road as the compound wall isn’t too tall.
The interiors are designed in the semi open style so that his father wouldn’t feel suffocated inside the house.
There is a long corridor in the centre of the house. The windows and doors on both ends of this corridor bring in lots of natural sunshine. Besides, the cool breeze from the west side makes the interiors extremely comfortable and pleasant.
Meanwhile, the arch designs and the elevation effectively blocks the harsh sun rays.
The simple interiors are easy to maintain. False ceiling has been installed only in the formal living area. Besides, other furnishings and décor that require constant maintenance too have been avoided.
Designed in 3200 sqft, this splendid abode has formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen and four bedrooms.
The folding glass doors near the dining area opens to patio. Excellent air circulation could be ensured if these doors are opened during the day.
In the father’s bedroom, additional sitting spaces are arranged besides the cot. A wash counter has been installed in the dressing area, close to the attached bathroom. Moreover, this bedroom is at a spot where it is easy to access or grab a view. A reading space too has been arranged close to it. This house has been designed to ensure the father’s comfort who mostly spends time inside. It is this heartfelt love of the son that makes this house a spectacular abode.
