Rashid and his family who recently moved into their beautiful new home in Koyilandi shares their experience of building the house. The elegant house stands on 7 cents, which, the owner confesses, had cost a bomb. He could only allot Rs 30 lakh for the construction after that. So, the family wanted a compact and cost-effective house with three bedrooms.
The slope roof perfectly suits the tropical climate of Kerala. Meanwhile, groves were designed during plastering and later painted to make the elevation attractive. Even though the house stands in a smaller plot, there is enough space in the front to park at least two vehicles.
The fabulous house has a car porch, sit out, living and dining areas, kitchen with a work area and three bedrooms built in 1500 sqft.
The limited use of timber for furnishing has helped in keeping a check on the expenses. Meanwhile, mettle has been used to build the partitions, hand railings of the staircase and window frames. Moderately priced marbonite tiles have been used for flooring in this house. As the furniture pieces are custom made as per the measurements, they amazingly complement the interiors.
The cabinets in the modern and spacious kitchen have been built using Aluminium Composite Panels. This is also a major factor that helped in reducing the expenses. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with granite.
The bedrooms have attached bathrooms and inbuilt wardrobes for storage. Meanwhile, a wall in every bedroom has been highlighted in attractive shades. There is a glass wall close to the ceiling in the up stair bedroom. This grants a magical ambience to the room, especially in the night.
The COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown had slowed the construction. Besides, the cost of the construction materials soared after that. All these factors had caused the budget to overshoot a bit. However, the family is thrilled that they have got the perfect home of their dreams. Meanwhile, the owner has a word of advice to everyone who plans to build new homes. He says that it is better to complete the construction without any breaks or delay as the prices keep surging.
