Josemon’s brand-new dwelling in the countryside of Pulikkayam, Kozhikode in Kerala, is a single-storey house that has all the amenities of a double-storey structure. The family wanted a single-story house as they believed that it would help them communicate better and keep the relationships warm. There is a car porch and an outhouse of 350 sqft adjacent to the house.
The plot was below the road level; so, it was raised to the level of the road before the construction began. Besides, the stone foundation is sturdy too. The structure is built by leaving ample space for the front yard. At a glance, this house looks like a luxurious abode. However, it is a simple house that exudes the elegance of minimalism.
The elevation features a fabulous blend of contemporary architecture and tropical style. The slanted roof in multiple layers is the highlight of the elevation. Interestingly, GI truss roof has been installed over a flat roof. Besides, double height ceiling has been designed in areas where GI truss isn’t installed. Lots of windows too have been arranged here to ensure excellent cross ventilation inside the house.
Designed in 2750 sqft, this amazing abode has a car porch, outhouse, sit-out, formal and family living area, kitchen with a work area and four bedrooms.
The elegantly furnished formal living area is just beside the entrance door. From here, one could enter the spacious dining area. Meanwhile, the family living area has been arranged adjacent to this.
The bedrooms are beautiful and are arranged on the backside of the structure to ensure privacy. The bath-attached bedrooms have wardrobes for storage.
The kitchen has been designed as a utility-friendly area. The inbuilt oven and fridge are smart additions. Besides, there are concealed tall units in the work area for storage.
This single-storey house boasts all the mesmerizing facilities of a double-storey house. The family too is happy that their decision had been right as it is easier to maintain and clean the house too.
